Accessibility Statement

Platinum Puppy Village™ is committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, including people who use screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, screen magnification, voice control, or reduced-motion settings. Accessibility is treated as part of building the site, not as a task to be done later.

The standard we aim for

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. This statement reflects our current status honestly: we believe most of the site meets that standard, and where it does not, we say so below rather than claiming otherwise.

What we have built in

• A “skip to main content” link as the first item for keyboard and screen-reader users.
• Semantic landmarks — header, navigation, main, and footer — with a single H1 and ordered headings on every page.
• Full keyboard operability: menus, dropdowns, forms, the appointment picker, and the video confirmation all work without a mouse.
• A high-visibility focus ring on every interactive element, so keyboard users can always see where they are.
• Body and interface text tested against WCAG AA contrast ratios, in both light and dark appearance.
• Descriptive alternative text on meaningful images, and decorative images hidden from assistive technology.
• Form fields with real, associated labels, clear error messages announced to screen readers, and no reliance on colour alone to convey meaning.
• Touch targets sized at least 44 × 44 pixels on mobile.
• Respect for the operating-system “reduce motion” setting — animation and smooth scrolling are switched off automatically.
• Responsive layouts that reflow without horizontal scrolling down to 320 pixels wide and up to 200% zoom.
• Video content offered with a direct link to the source platform, where playback speed and captions can be controlled.

Known limitations

We would rather tell you about these than let you discover them:

• Embedded video. Our video content is hosted on a third-party platform, and we do not control that player's accessibility, captions, or transcripts. If a video is not accessible to you, contact us and we will provide a written summary of its content.
• Downloadable PDFs. Our printable checklist is tagged for reading order, but complex PDFs are harder to make fully accessible than web pages. We will supply the same content as plain text or HTML on request.
• Third-party links. Pages we link to on other websites are outside our control and may not meet the same standard.

Getting content in another format

If anything on this site is not accessible to you, we will get you the same information another way — large print, plain text, a written summary of a video, or simply a phone conversation. There is no charge for this and no explanation required. Email Hello@DogsNU.org.

Reporting a barrier

Please tell us what happened, the page you were on, and the device, browser, or assistive technology you were using. Send it to Hello@DogsNU.org or use our contact form. We aim to acknowledge every report within five business days and to tell you what we plan to do about it and when.

Assessment and review

This site is assessed by internal review, including keyboard-only navigation testing, automated contrast and markup checks, and mobile reflow testing. We have not yet commissioned a formal third-party audit. This statement is reviewed whenever significant new functionality is added.
